Rubber Surfacing for Pool Decks in Cape Coral, Florida
Lanais, pool decks, and patios are our most popular renovation projects. In subtropical climates, the backyard is the "living room" of the house! It should be beautiful and easy to live in. We are frequently called to help our clients find durable solutions when they are dealing with unsightly cracks, chipping paint and coatings, slippery tiles, or the hassle and sandy mess associated with pavers. Our recommended patio/deck products are Superior Stone, Deck Flecks, and TPV, and we offer the most advanced technologies with these products to minimize your upkeep and maximize the life of your new surface.
- Superior Stone is a natural stone overlay with an epoxy binder. The epoxy offers a slight sheen while it binds the small pebbles for a seamless finish across the custom size of your deck. With its natural look, Superior Stone enhances outdoor landscaping. Superior Stone can be installed over cracks and surface imperfections, hand-leveled for a smooth finish. It is a troweled-in-place surface, not a tile, carpet, or paint. Superior Stone is water-porous, so we can install overtop of your drains without interrupting water flow -- giving you a high-end, seamless finish without visible drains. We like to install aluminum expansion joints over the expansion joints in your concrete substrate, so that the stone overlay will move with your existing concrete and avoid future cracks. If cracks do appear, they are easy and inexpensive to spot repair. Epoxy stone overlays will look wonderful for decades with simple resealing maintenance. Like most other decorative surfaces, the maintenance interval is two years. Superior Surfacing can reseal on your behalf, or we can show you how to do it yourself. In addition to our standard epoxy, we have recently added a light-stable epoxy to our product offerings. This product, new to the market, can greatly extend the time needed between reseals -- the reseal interval for light-stable epoxy is testing between four to eight years. Because this light-stable product is new to the market, we can offer it at a greatly reduced price for a limited time. The standard epoxy comes with a two-year warranty, and the light-stable epoxy comes with a three-year warranty.
- Deck Flecks
- Deck Flecks, part of Flecks Systems, is manufactured to be the most ideal, most durable outdoor surfacing product available. It is the only surface on the market with a five-year crack-proof warranty. Because it is a resilient, flexible system, it will stretch to 155% of its length before cracking, meaning that your concrete foundation can continue to move and crack and it won't show through your Deck Flecks surface. It is a troweled-in-place surface, not a tile, carpet, or paint. Deck Flecks is antimicrobial and chlorine stable. We call Flecks our most "people-friendly surface" because it truly accommodates your lifestyle; a cool-to-the-touch, cushioned, comfortable experience for you and your guests. As an impact-absorbing system, glasses and plates will not break when dropped on this surface. Injury risks from slip-and-falls are greatly reduced. Like Superior Stone and TPV, Deck Flecks is water-porous, so we can install overtop of your drains without interrupting water flow -- giving you a high-end, seamless finish without visible drains.
- Like Deck Flecks, TPV is a resilient, flexible surfacing system -- however, TPV is a true rubber, not a thermoplastic. This means that unlike Flecks, it is not entirely light-stable and colors will subtly fade over time. It is a troweled-in-place surface, not a tile, carpet, or paint. For residential installations, we use a light-stable binder, which gives TPV most of the durability benefits of Flecks. TPV can withstand the chlorine exposure of residential installations but is not recommended for commercial pools and does not feature built-in antimicrobial additives. It is a high grade true rubber, and offers the safety, comfort, crack-resistant, cool-to-the-touch benefits of Flecks. With a recommended reseal every 8-10 years, it is a very low-maintenance surface and features a lower material cost than Deck Flecks. Like Superior Stone and Deck Flecks, TPV is water-porous, so we can install overtop of your drains without interrupting water flow -- giving you a high-end, seamless finish without visible drains.
