The client chose the Keystone color — a grey base warmed with a touch of brown — an elegant performance color that hides dirt on its own. But a heavily-used shared entrance demands the ultimate in cleanability, so the client added Resilion Repel. This optional dirt-repelling top coat is built for exactly this use case, keeping high-traffic spaces cleaner between cleanings. It’s also a favorite for very light colors in residential settings. Cleanability matters, but so does safety — and the two are usually at odds. Nonslip performance is typically achieved through aggressive texture, which makes a surface harder to keep clean. In spaces built for senior residents, where safety is non-negotiable, that trade-off is a real problem. The Resilion system is unusual in resolving this issue as it is both non-slip and easy to clean. It is power-washable and bleach-tolerant, so cleaning stays easy — and with the Repel top coat, needed even less often. The back patio presented a unique challenge. With no practical way to divert a gutter downspout, runoff overflowed directly onto the new patio — a cleaning nightmare for virtually any outdoor coating, Resilion included. The solution: the Resilion Nonporous additive on that section of the deck for maximum repellency. Because Nonporous adds a high-gloss sheen, the client simply placed a planter at the transition to mask the change in material texture. The result: a high-performance, beautiful rubber surface that delivers the safety a senior community demands while upholding the look and cleanliness standards of a premier property.
