Stamped concrete carries other liabilities as well. The surface sealer that gives it its appearance requires regular reapplication, is prone to peeling and flaking in Florida’s UV exposure, and can become dangerously slippery when wet. This is a serious concern on a pool deck. Over time, the stamped pattern itself can fade and wear unevenly, leaving a surface that looks tired rather than refined. The Resilion rubberized overlay addressed every one of these concerns. The existing expansion joints continue to function structurally beneath the surface — accommodating normal concrete movement — but are completely invisible above it. No demolition of the stamped concrete or existing concrete coping was required. The coping received a full wrapped treatment, which on this property carried particular design weight. With the deck spanning multiple levels (both a pool surround and raised planter areas) the vertical face of the coping is prominently on display throughout the space. A clean, seamless wrap at every level elevates the entire property, turning what is often an afterthought into a defining architectural detail.
