Project specs
This particular feature, as it is part of the general walkway in the heavily-trafficked Islands of Adventure area, demonstrates how well an excellently-installed rubber project can last in even intense traffic conditions. With a few water pop jets spraying onto the surface, McElligot’s Pool serves as a welcome cool-down reprieve during the park’s hottest summer days. Resilion is hardy enough to withstand this continued water exposure. The glitter was a particularly fun element of the project (video footage captures the glitter performance more so than static pictures can). The use of glitter only in the turquoise fields instead of as part of every color field was a particularly elegant restraint. Resilion is a favorite resurfacing system in the park, due to its unusually high color retention. Nowhere is that more important than in the difficult pigments of orange and pink, colors that are notoriously difficult for long-term outdoor stability.
