Rubberized Terrazzo is a new development in the world of safety surfacing. Advances in flexible high-performance polymers have allowed for rubberized products to be installed more thickly than before. This allows for greater crack resistance, less thermal transfer in the case of hot spills, and most importantly — greater impact attenuation for additional safety. With this safety benefit, Rubberized Terrazzo can deliver on safety in a way that standard concrete or epoxy terrazzos cannot. We’re excited for the potential injury reduction in such applications as airport lobbies and grocery stores, where slip-and-fall risks from wet rain boots or mopped-up spills are serious and result in hard landings on rock-like surfacing.
The look of Rubberized Terrazzo mimics traditional terrazzo coatings, featuring a colorized polymer with mixed-in aggregate appearance. Additional non-rubber aggregates are in experimentation, allowing for upscale shimmer as used in premium applications such as high-end shopping malls.
